Dominica Steps up

Friday January 15th, 2010 — I’d just like to state that before I’m a Brooklyn Diva, I am a Dominican FIRST.  For the past few years the Nature Island of  the Caribbean, Dominica  and fellow french sister island to Haiti has been the refuge, new home-town or “stop-off point” to many Haitian people displaced after a few tragic Hurricanes several  years back.  I am proud to hear that several companies and locals throughout the country has donated a substantial amount of money to the Haitian people. Also granting illegal Haitian nationals a 6 month anti-deportation extension.

Ms. LeBlanc’s New Face

Monday January 4th, 2010– So since “10″ seems to be such a magical number—I mean after all it IS my fabulous day of birth — and since the Black Eye Peas are declaring the fabulous arrival of the 2010 year to generally be a Good Night I think we’re all feeling the overall positive energy that 2010 has brought in.

Immediately following the legendary NYC ball drop, new ideas took place in my head. I took some inspiration from 1 of my Fashion Fairy Godmothers: The Legendary Ms. Patricia Field and here’s what happened:

kinna_jane-leblancYOU LIKEY?!

So I figured, since I need to start branding things very soon, why not come up with a newer personified logo to go along with our Jane tag!

needs more tweaking. But which one so far? Top or Bottom.

Oh! and let’s not forget my fabulous encounter with the darling Ms. Pat herself, during my modeling days. After chatting it up, sharing a few laughs and me rambling for 2 minutes about how much I LOVE HER, here we are at a Growing Up Gotti birthday party back in 05′ with her (12 year old God Son)  Zachary (yes, in the club!)

yes, it was HOT in there! And that was my cell phone sticking out of my Bra! heehee.

Team Teacup Prevails…

This Soul Has Been Saved!

The Pink Tea Cup

Saturday January 2, 2010– So I got a little letter this morning stating this NYC Blessing…

“Just wanted to give you an update…..Soul has been saved just in time for the New Year! THE PINK TEA CUP legendary New York City Soul Food Restaurant. Indie Film Maker and Restaurateur Lawrence Page, Saves a West Village Institution Again!”

New York City— The Pink Teacup will live on! For the past few weeks Team Teacup (I love that, btw!) has been aggressively calling on loyal customers and New Yorkers alike to petition against threats of closure due to financial constraints and to save this legendary soul food haven. The cherished eatery’s hope for a Christmas miracle to save its collard greens was answered by Actor’s Playhouse theater proprietor, Lawrence Page.
“When I heard about the impending closing of The Pink Teacup, I knew it was my destiny to step up and save it” says Lawrence Page.

Page will partner with current Pink Teacup manager, Vincent Pinkney to own and operate the restaurant. They have plans to keep the staff of 15 who were in jeopardy of losing their jobs if the restaurant closed. Page is best known for his purchase and restoration efforts of The Actors’ Theater Playhouse earlier this year. Page’s partnership with Vincent to save the The Pink Teacup is consistent with his pledge to revitalize the West Village through salvaging it’s staple institutions. At this time it is being determined if the 55–year-old West Village establishment located at 42 Grove Street in New York City will be relocated or remain in its current location.
Wow, what a message, huh?! and the Soul Session wouldn’t be complete without a fund raising extravaganza now would it?!

THE PINK TEA CUP
Tucked into a cozy West Village storefront, the Pink Tea Cup is every bit as inviting as its name suggests, with crowded rows of petite wooden tables, faux-Tiffany hanging fixtures, and, soft rose-colored walls. Founded by Floridian Mary Raye in 1954, the restaurant’s tradition of home-style southern cooking is carried on today by Raye’s niece and grand-niece, and the convivial ambiance and menu reflect the restaurant’s devotion to homespun family fare. Like any good mom, the Pink Tea Cup offers an overwhelming spread: “Dinner” means soup, salad, entrée, bread, two vegetables, and dessert, served fast, hot, and in heaping portions. Pork chops and the barely breaded fried chicken are local favorites; sweet and spicy barbecued ribs and a side of salty collard greens are standouts.
